DIY Autumn Decoration: A Centrepiece with Anemones, Fruit and Warm Colours

DIY Autumn Decoration: A Centrepiece with Anemones, Fruit and Warm Colours

How to Create a DIY Autumn Table Decoration

Autumn enters the home through colours, shapes and small details that make every space feel warmer and more welcoming.

For this DIY autumn decoration, we started with a wooden container and created a rich, textured and natural-looking arrangement. Bicolour anemones form the heart of the design, while apples, bunches of grapes and vine leaves evoke the fruit and distinctive shades of the season.

The result is an eye-catching autumn centrepiece that is easy to make and ideal for decorating a dining table, console table, entrance cabinet or a special corner of the home.

What do you need to make it?

For this autumn arrangement, we used:

  • One wooden container
  • Two bunches of artificial bicolour anemones
  • Three artificial apples
  • Two bunches of artificial grapes
  • One artificial vine branch
  • One wild berry scented candle
  • One rust-coloured candelabra

Using artificial flowers and fruit allows you to preserve the arrangement and reuse it throughout the autumn season, simply changing a few elements whenever you wish.

1. Start with the wooden base

The wooden container defines the style of the arrangement and immediately recalls the natural materials associated with autumn.

Place it in the centre of the table or on the piece of furniture you would like to decorate. Before adding the elements, decide which side will be viewed most often. This will help you balance the volumes, colours and heights.

If the centrepiece will be seen from every angle, create a balanced 360-degree arrangement instead.

2. Create volume with bicolour anemones

The two bunches of artificial bicolour anemones are the focal point of the decoration.

Arrange the flowers in the centre and towards the back of the container, alternating the different shades. Bright yellows, deep reds and orange tones create contrast and add movement to the composition.

Avoid placing every flower at the same height. A slightly irregular arrangement will make the result feel more spontaneous and realistic.

3. Add the apples and grapes

Place the three artificial apples at the front of the arrangement, combining different colours to create greater visual depth.

Then add the two bunches of grapes at the sides of the container. Allow a few elements to extend slightly over the edge: this small detail gives the design a softer, more natural shape.

The artificial fruit is not purely decorative. It also balances the volume of the flowers and immediately evokes the abundance of the autumn season.

4. Complete the arrangement with the vine branch

Place the artificial vine branch between the flowers and fruit, following the shape of the wooden container.

The leaves visually connect all the elements while adding new shades to the palette: green, burgundy, rust and brown.

Leave a few leaves loose and visible around the edges to create a natural, enveloping effect.

5. Create atmosphere with a candle and candelabra

To complete the decoration, we chose a wild berry scented candle and a rust-coloured candelabra.

The candle introduces a sensory element: its light makes the setting feel more intimate, while the wild berry fragrance enhances the autumn character of the arrangement.

The rust-coloured candelabra echoes the warm shades of the flowers, leaves and fruit, while adding height and elegance to the table.

For safety, always keep the flame away from artificial flowers, leaves and other decorative materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Where can you use this arrangement?

This DIY autumn centrepiece works beautifully in different spaces and for many occasions:

  • On a dining table
  • On a console table in the entrance
  • On a coffee table in the living room
  • For an autumn dinner
  • To decorate a restaurant or commercial space
  • As a seasonal display for shop windows and events

The size of the arrangement can also be customised. For a smaller table, reduce the amount of fruit and flowers. For a larger table, extend the decoration lengthways by repeating the elements across the surface.

Why choose artificial flowers and fruit?

High-quality artificial flowers and fruit make it possible to create refined, long-lasting decorations that are easy to transform.

They require no maintenance, do not deteriorate like fresh products and can be stored for future seasons. At the end of autumn, simply separate the individual elements and reuse them in new creative projects.

This is the heart of My Flower self-made creativity: start with a few carefully chosen elements, follow your inspiration and bring a personal decoration to life.
